Effective Tips to Say Goodbye to BBQ Sauce Stains on Belts
Having that perfect BBQ night with friends and family can turn messy when it comes to the famous BBQ sauce, especially when it gets onto clothing. Removing BBQ sauce stains from belts can be challenging, but luckily there are several methods you can use to help get those stains out.

Treating Fresh Stains
- Use a butter knife or other flat edge to scrape away any dried material.
- Sponge the stain gently with a damp white cloth and mild detergent.
- Rinse the belt off under cold running water.
- Allow it to air dry completely.
Removing Set-In Stains
- Mix equal parts white vinegar and dish soap in a bowl.
- Soak the stained area of belt in the mixture for 10 minutes.
- Using an old toothbrush, scrub the stain gently in a circular motion.
- Rinse the belt off completely in cool running water.
- If the stain persists, mix 1 teaspoon of oxalic acid or chlorine bleach with 1 cup of water and dab stain with a white cloth until it is gone.
- Rinse with cold water and allow belt to air dry.
Tips for Care and Prevention
- Always check garment or belt tag for washing instructions.
- Be sure to pretreat stubborn food stains, like BBQ sauce, before laundering.
- Be careful while eating and have a napkin or towel handy to protect clothing from spills.
- If eating outside or at a picnic, wear a dark colored apron while handling food to help protect your clothing.
