The first step in removing a barbecue sauce stain from a Banana Republic garment is to act fast. The quicker you can address the stain, the less chance there is for it to set in the fabric.
Using a clean cloth or paper towel, gently blot the stained area. Do not rub the fabric, as this will only spread the stain and further set it into the material.
Once you've blotted away as much of the stain as possible, pre-treat the affected area by applying a gentle detergent, such as Woolite, to fabric. Gently rub the detergent into the stain and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse the area with cold water and then blot stain with a damp cloth. This will help to dilute stain and make it easier to remove.
If stain is still visible, repeat steps 3 and 4. Alternatively, you can apply a laundry spot remover or oxygen bleach directly to the stain.
For the best results, launder the garment according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to inspect the garment after laundering to ensure the stain has been removed.
If you find that the stain is still present after laundering, repeat the steps listed above until it is completely gone.
