If you've just noticed barbecue sauce stain on your backpack, start by blotting up as much of sauce as you can with a paper towel or a rag. You should then mix one teaspoon of mild dishwashing liquid with two cups of warm water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and use it to blot stain until it lifts. Rinse the area immediately with a clean cloth dipped in cold water, and then air dry it.
If stain has set in, you may need to use a stronger solution. Try mixing one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Submerge the stained area of your backpack in the mixture and let it soak for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse and air dry it. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process.
To avoid getting stains on your backpack in the future, always take extra care when eating or drinking around your bag. You should also spray the exterior fabric with a stain-resistant product before using it for the first time.
