Removing barbecue sauce stains from an anorak typically requires different steps than if stain were on clothing or furniture. As with any stain, start by wiping off as much of the sauce as possible with a dry white cloth or paper towel. Make sure not to spread the stain further in process.

Once you have wiped away as much of the sauce as possible, create a mixture of 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent and 1 cup of cold water. Dab the mixture onto stained area of anorak with a clean white cloth. Rub mixture gently into the fabric in a circular motion, using light pressure.

To remove the remaining stain, prepare a slightly stronger mixture of 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent and 1 cup of cold water. Dab this second mixture onto the stained area and rub gently into the fabric with a white cloth. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water until all residue has been removed.

If the stain isn't coming out, it may be necessary to use a small amount of bleach. Prepare a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach and 1 cup of cold water. Dab a small amount of the mixture onto the stained area and leave for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water. Use this method sparingly - too much bleach can damage the fabric.

Finally, once stain has completely been removed, you should place the anorak in the washing machine and launder according to the instructions on care label. This step is important to ensure that all detergent and bleach are removed from the fabric.
