Removing the Stain

  • Remove as much of tape as possible by cutting away or peeling off pieces of tape.
  • Scrub the remaining tape off using a soft-bristled brush and cool water.
  • Once the tape is completely gone, wash the underwear with your regular laundry detergent and hang to dry.

Alternative Methods

If the adhesive tape stain is particularly stubborn, you may need to try alternate methods. Try one of the following methods for removing the adhesive tape stain:

  1. Apply a small amount of acetone-free nail-polish remover directly to the stain. Allow the remover to sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  2. Mix one part white vinegar with four parts cold water. Gently rub the mixture onto the stain and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
  3. Create a paste of equal parts baking soda and lemon juice. Apply paste to stain and let sit for one hour. Wipe away the paste and rinse with cool water.

Preventing Future Stains

To avoid having to deal with adhesive tape stains in future, try one of the following tips:

  • Use caution when applying adhesive tape to clothing. Keep it as far from your skin as possible.
  • Wash clothing after it has been exposed to adhesive tape.
  • Cover adhesive tape with a clothing patch or bandage before attaching it to your clothing.
