1. Pre-treat the Stain

Before you start washing the garments, you should pre-treat the stained area. Begin by dampening a clean cloth with warm water, then add a few drops of liquid laundry detergent, such as Tide®. Gently rub the stain with cloth in a circular motion. Don't scrub or rub the fabric too hard, as this can damage fibers. Keep gently rubbing the cloth against the stained area until you see the stain lift.

2. Launder the Clothing

Once you've pre-treated the stain, you're ready to launder the clothing. Add the items to your washing machine and set cycle for the warmest temperature that's safe for your particular fabric. Include a few drops of liquid laundry detergent with the wash cycle. Then, let the machine finish its cycle. If the stain is still visible after the wash cycle is finished, pre-treat the area again before running another cycle through the machine.

3. Air Dry the Clothing

Once wash cycle is complete, remove the items from the machine and hang them to air dry. Avoid using a dryer, as the heat can cause the adhesive to set deeper into the fabric. As the clothing dries, inspect area to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain is still there, pre-treat the area again before running another wash cycle.

4. Spot Clean if Necessary

If you still see remnants of the adhesive tape stain on the twill fabric after laundering and air drying, you can try spot cleaning the area. Dampen a clean cloth with warm water, then add a few drops of liquid laundry detergent. Gently rub stained area with the cloth in a circular motion. Repeat this process until the stain lifts, then allow the area to air dry. Do not use a dryer for this step.

5. Prevent Adhesive Tape Stains

The best way to deal with adhesive tape stains on your twill clothing is to avoid them in the first place. To do this, always use tape designed for fabrics when working with twill. This type of tape is made specifically for use on fabrics and won't leave sticky adhesive residue.
