Step 1: Identify Fabric Type

The first step to removing any stain is identifying the fabric type. All fabrics interact differently with certain ingredients, so it’s important to know which kind of fabric you are working with. Depending on fabric used in your top, the cleaning process may differ.

Step 2: Test a Spot

After you have identified the fabric of your top, take a small amount of your detergent or cleaner of choice and test it on a small spot. If the fabric does not react negatively to the product, such as a discoloration, you are safe to use the product to treat the stain.

Step 3: Pre-Spot

If the product does not damage the fabric, apply a pre-spotting solution to the affected area. This will help to break down adhesive, making it easier to remove after laundering.

Step 4: Launder the Garment

Once you have applied the pre-spotting solution, launder the garment as recommended on the care instructions. Check fabric for any remaining stains before drying the garment. If the stain persists, repeat steps 3 and 4 until the stain has been completely removed.

Step 5: Post Wash Treatment

As an extra measure, give the garment one final post wash treatment. Submerge the garment in a bucket filled with cold water and add one cup of white vinegar. Soak the garment for up to 10 minutes before rinsing and drying. This will help to ensure any remnant adhesive residue is removed.
