Begin by treating the stains gently. Trying to pull or rub at the adhesive tape will only make it harder to get out as it may spread or become embedded in the fabric. Instead, carefuly use a stainless steel spoon to slowly and gently pry the adhesive away.
After gently prying the adhesive, apply hairspray to the affected area. Allow a few minutes for the hairspray to penetrate the fabric and soften adhesive. Blot up as much of the hairspray as possible with a soft cloth.
To further loosen the adhesive, use an oil-based product such as Vaseline or baby oil. Apply the oil directly to the adhesive Stain and wait a few minutes. Rub the area gently with a soft cloth until the adhesive is removed. If necessary, repeat.
For tougher stains, a detergent or cleaning solution may be necessary. Use a mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid. Dab detergent onto the stain and wait about five minutes before wiping it away. Be sure to rinse the detergent off with cold water to prevent any damage to the fabric.
Finally, to remove any remaining residue, launder the tights as usual. Be sure to check the care label first, as some tights may require hand washing. Air dry the tights after laundering, as heat can damage fabric.
While adhesive tape stains may be an annoying problem, it doesn’t have to be permanent. Using the above steps and products, you can effectively remove any adhesive tape stains from your tights without causing damage.
