Start by removing as much of the adhesive as you can. Gently scrape away any large pieces with something that has a hard, straight edge like the side of a credit card or a butter knife. Do not use anything sharp, as you could damage the fabric.
Next, saturate a cotton ball or paper towel with rubbing alcohol. Be sure to use enough to completely cover the area where adhesive is located. Then, blot the surface with moistened cloth until the adhesive lifts off of the fabric.
Once you have removed as much of adhesive as possible using the rubbing alcohol, it’s time to tackle any stubborn residue. Place the garment in the washing machine and wash with detergent as usual. If necessary, you can re-apply rubbing alcohol to any remaining residue.
If stain still remains after laundering, you may want to try a stain remover product designed specifically for adhesive removal.
