Step 1: Soak and Agitate

The most effective way to remove adhesive tape stains from swimwear is to soak the item in a solution of water and laundry detergent. Use a small basin filled with lukewarm water and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of detergent. Soak swimwear for 15 minutes, agitating it occasionally to help break up the adhesive.

Step 2: Apply Stain Remover

If the adhesive tape residue persists after soaking, spray a specialized stain remover onto the fabric and allow it to sit for up to 5 minutes. If you don’t have a commercial product, try using a natural solution such as a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda or lemon juice. Scrub lightly with an old toothbrush before rinsing away any excess residue.

Step 3: Wash and Dry

Follow up your stain removal treatments by washing the swimwear according to its care instructions. To prevent new stains from forming, avoid adding fabric softener to the detergent. Line or tumble dry on low heat.
