What You’ll Need For Cleaning Adhesive Tape Stains

  • Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover
  • Q-tips or cotton balls
  • Soft cloth
  • Olive oil or cooking oil
  • Dish detergent

Step 1: Use Rubbing Alcohol or Nail Polish Remover

The first step in removing adhesive tape stains from sunglasses is to use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Pour a small amount of either one onto a cotton ball or Q-tip and gently rub the area in question until the stain is gone. Make sure to be careful and not to rub too hard, as this could damage the lens.

Step 2: Wipe Down With Oil and Soap

Once the adhesive tape stain has been removed, the next step is to wipe down the area with a soft cloth dampened with a mixture of olive oil and a few drops of dish detergent. Rub the cloth gently in a circular motion until entire area is clean. Then, rinse the cloth and wipe the lens again, this time with plain water. Allow the lens to air dry before wearing your sunglasses.
