Suede is a delicate material that cas require extra care when it comes to cleaning. Adhesive tape often leaves behind an unsightly stain on suede, and it can be difficult to remove without damaging the material. Luckily, with the right supplies and a little know-how, you can get those adhesive tape stains out of your suede for good.

What You’ll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Soft cloth
  • Wooden spoon

Instructions

  1. Mix one part white vinegar with one part water and stir until combined.
  2. Dip a soft cloth into the vinegar solution and dab stained area.
  3. Alternatively, you can pour the mixture directly onto the stain.
  4. Gently work the liquid into the stain with a wooden spoon.
  5. Allow the vinegar solution to sit for 10 minutes before blotting it up with a dry cloth.
  6. Continue repeating this process until the stain has been completely removed.

You may need to repeat this process a few times in order to get rid of stubborn stains, but eventually, the adhesive should come out. Be sure to take your time and use gentle pressure, as pressing too hard could damage the suede.

Tips for Prevention

  • If you must use adhesive tape on suede, be sure to cover it with a piece of fabric. This will help to protect the material from any adhesive residue.
  • Gently brush the material with a suede brush after use to help remove any adhesive particles.
  • Always test any cleaning supplies on a small, hidden area of the material first to make sure they won’t cause discoloration or damage.
