The first step is to remove as much of adhesive tape as possible. Do not pull or tear the tape since this could damage the fabric. Instead, use a pair of scissors to carefully cut around the edges of the tape. Once the tape has been removed, remaining adhesive residue should be soft and easy to break apart.
Once tape has been removed, use a laundry detergent to pre-treat the area. Apply detergent directly to the adhesive stain and gently rub it into the fabric. Allow detergent to sit for 10-15 minutes before washing.
Place the garment into the washing machine with a gentle cycle and a mild laundry detergent. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, as these may cause fading or staining. After the cycle is completed, inspect the garment for any remaining adhesive residue.
Air drying sleepwear is the best way to prevent shrinkage, fading, and further staining. Place your garment outdoors on a clothesline or drying rack and allow it to air dry naturally.
