What You'll Need

  • Mild detergent
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Cotton swab or soft cloth
  • Iron and ironing board

Steps to Follow

  1. Lay the stained silk tussah fabric on an ironing board. Gently press against the adhesive tape with a cloth or a cotton swab to lift off any residue.
  2. Mix a few drops of mild detergent in a bowl of lukewarm water. Soak a cotton swab or a soft cloth in mixture and rub it onto the affected area in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse fabric with lukewarm water and then dry it with a towel.
  4. In a spray bottle, mix 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar with 1 cup of cold water. Spray the stained fabric with this mixture.
  5. Run a hot iron over the fabric for a few seconds to set the vinegar.
  6. Leave the fabric aside for an hour, and then brush off any residues from the spot.
  7. Wash the fabric with mild detergent and let it air-dry.

Tips and Warnings

  • Do not scrub or rub the fabric too hard. It may damage the delicate silk fibers.
  • Test detergent on a hidden patch of fabric before using it on the stain.
