Gather Your Supplies

Before you attempt to remove an adhesive tape stain from a silk faille garment, you'll need to gather a few supplies:

  • A clean sponge
  • Laundry detergent
  • Vinegar
  • A clean, white cloth
  • Iron

Removing the Stain

Start by using a clean sponge and a generous amount of laundry detergent on the tape stain. Gently rub the affected area and allow detergent to soak into fabric. Afterward, rinse the area with lukewarm water until the soap is gone. If stain still remains, try soaking the area in vinegar for several minutes and then rinse again.

Once the area is clean and damp, lay the garment flat on a dry white cloth. Use an iron on a low setting to press the area. This will help strengthen silk fibers which will make them less prone to residual adhesive.

You may also want to consider spot cleaning other areas of the garment to ensure that any remaining detergent residue has been removed.
