Before beginning to scrub stain, use a soft-bristled brush to gently loosen any dirt or debris that has adhered to sticky residue from the tape. Then, create a cleaning solution by mixing one teaspoon of mild all-fabric laundry detergent with two cups of warm water.
Soak a paper towel in the cleaning solution and press it onto the stained area. Allow it to soak for up to 30 minutes. If the fabric is dyes or contains any delicate embellishments, keep solution soaking time to five minutes or less, to avoid damage.
Rinse away the cleaning solution with lukewarm water. Then, dip a toothbrush in dish liquid and scrub stained area. Finally, rinse away any remaining soap with lukewarm water.
If the stain persists, try applying rubbing alcohol or white vinegar directly onto the adhesive residue. Allow it to sit for up to one minute before rinsing away.
Repeat steps three and four as many times as necessary until the adhesive tape stain is completely gone.
Once adhesive tape stain is removed, dry your garment on a clothesline or tumble dry on low heat. Remember, because silk chiffon is a delicate fabric, never iron your garment directly over the stain.
