Tape is a great tool, but it can leave behind a stubborn stain if it gets onto fabric. If you’re dealing with adhesive tape residue, the key is to act quickly and use the right methods. Here’s how to get adhesive tape stains out of a shirt:

  1. Scrape away as much of the tape residue as possible with a dull knife or butter knife. Be careful not to press too hard – you don't want to damage the material.
  2. Blot any remaining adhesive with a cloth that has been dampened with either rubbing alcohol or hairspray. This will help dissolve the adhesive and remove it from the fabric.
  3. Using a pre-treatment laundry product, gently rub affected area. Work the pre-treatment into the fabric in a circular motion. Allow the pre-treatment to sit for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Finally, launder the shirt as usual in your washing machine. Make sure to follow the care instructions on the garment’s tag for best results.

Following these steps will help ensure that adhesive tape residue won’t ruin your clothing. Keep in mind, however, that pre-treating and laundering immediately after exposure is crucial!
