If the stain is fresh, start by lifting off any visible particles of tape with a butter knife or something similar. It’s important to be gentle when doing this, as too much pressure can cause extra damage. Next, use a dab of rubbing alcohol on a cotton cloth to carefully dab at the stain. It’s best to concentrate solution on the area directly surrounding the spot, since rubbing alcohol has the potential to create water spots. Be sure not to rub the stain itself, as this could cause it to spread.

If the stain has already set in, it’s best to take a few extra steps. Start by soaking the area in a mixture of lukewarm water and detergent for a few minutes. If stain is particularly tough, you can try adding a few drops of white vinegar to the solution. After soaking, use a soft bristled brush to lightly scrub at the area in circular motions. Rinse the garment thoroughly and allow it to air dry.

You can also use a commercial-grade cleaner or spot remover. If you choose to go this route, make sure to read instructions carefully and test a small patch on the back of the garment first. Once you’ve found the right cleaning method for your satin fabric, be sure to store your garments away from direct sunlight and dust.
