Removing Adhesive Tape Stains from Sarongs

When working with delicate fabrics like sarongs, caution should always be used when selecting cleaning products and techniques. The last thing you want to do is damage the fabric. Here is a safe and easy way to remove adhesive tape stains from a sarong.

  1. Prepare the area. Start by spotting test your chosen cleaning product on a small corner or backside seam of the sarong. This will tested if the fabric will react negatively.
  2. Soak the tape. Lay the sarong face down on a flat, dry surface. Place a damp cloth over the adhesive tape stain and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Apply cleaning product. Squeeze a few drops of solution you tested earlier onto the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once the solution has had time to penetrate the fabric, rub it in lightly with a wet cloth.
  4. Rinse. Rinse soiled area with warm water and repeat until the stain is gone. For tough stains, you may need to repeat the steps multiple times until all the adhesive has been removed.
  5. Dry. Hang the sarong in direct sunlight to allow it to dry completely.

Additional Tips

  • If your adhesive is oil-based or rubber-based, you may need to use a stronger cleaning product. Spot test any product before using it directly on the fabric.
  • If stain remains after trying the above method, you may need to take your sarong to a dry cleaner.
  • To prevent future stains, always ensure tape is removed as soon as possible.
