Poplin is a smooth, lightweight fabric that is tough enough to withstand wear-and-tear, but delicate enough to need special attention when cleaning. When adhesive tape spills onto your poplin fabrics, it can be difficult to remove without leaving unsightly marks. Fortunately, here are 3 steps to help you restore your poplin to its pre-adhesive state:
Gently scrape the excess tape off of the poplin fabric with a plastic knife or spoon. Be sure to be careful not to snag the fabric or leave residue behind. Once majority of the tape has been scraped off, take a damp cloth and gently dab at the remaining residue.
Mix together a solution of ¼ cup of dish soap and 1 gallon of hot water. Put the solution into a spray bottle and spritz over the affected area. Let the pre-treatment sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing it off.
Once the pre-treatment has had time to work, put the fabric into your washing machine and run it through a normal cycle. Afterwards, hang your poplin up to dry in a warm place and inspect it to make sure adhesive tape stain has been completely removed.
