Adhesive tape is one of those sticky problems that seems to pop up no matter where you are. Whether you have a craft project with leftover scraps or you’ve recently moved to a new home, chances are you’ll eventually encounter adhesive tape on your clothes. If you’re wearing a fashionable pencil skirt with small prints, the task of cleaning off the adhesive tape can seem daunting.

Thankfully, with a few simple tips and tricks, you can clean off adhesive tape from your pencil skirt with ease. Here’s what you need to do.

1. Prep Your Pencil Skirt

Before getting started, you should properly prep your pencil skirt. Remove any excess adhesive tape residue by lightly scraping it away with a butter knife or the edge of an old credit card. This will make cleaning process much easier.

Next, check your skirt's care instructions. If label says “dry clean only,” then you should take it to the dry cleaner for proper cleaning. If it says “machine washable,” proceed to the next step.

2. Create a Remedy

Create a mixture of 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent and ¼ cup of white vinegar. Fill a bowl with this mixture, and place your pencil skirt in the bowl. Let the skirt soak in the mixture for about 10 minutes. This should loosen the adhesive tape residue and remove any stubborn stains.

3. Rinse and Wash

After soaking the skirt for 10 minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Then, place the skirt in the washing machine. Set the washer to a delicate cycle to avoid any damage. Let the washing machine finish its job, and your skirt should look as good as new.

4. Dry and Enjoy

Once the washing machine has finished its cycle, hang your pencil skirt in a well-ventilated room to dry. Avoid using a dryer as the heat may damage the fabric. And voilà, you’re all done!
