If you have a sticky tape stain, the first thing you need to do is determine what type of adhesive was used on the tape. If adhesive is water-soluble, then you can try blotting the stain with a damp cloth. Then, put a small amount of a gentle laundry detergent directly onto stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a damp cloth to rub the detergent into stain, working in a circular motion. Rinse off with a damp cloth.
If the adhesive is not water-soluble, then you may need to use a special cleaner. Test the cleaner on a hidden area of the fabric first to ensure it does not discolor or damage fibers. Follow the instructions on the cleaner’s container for best results. Once the tape stain is removed, rinse the area with a damp cloth to remove any leftover residue.
When you have finished cleaning the peau de soie, you may want to use an upholstery protector to shield the fabric from future stains. This will help keep the fabric looking like new for years to come.
