When it comes to adhesive tape stains, the key is to act quickly. The longer a stain sits, the harder it will be to remove. Here are five steps you can take to help get those unsightly adhesive tape stains out of your clothing.
Gently scrape off any excess residue from the tape with a non-abrasive tool such as a plastic spoon or butter knife. Be careful not to push too hard and damage fabric.
In a sink or basin, soak the stained area with a mixture of cold water and laundry detergent for about 15 minutes. This will help to soften the tape’s adhesive and make it easier to remove.
Using an old toothbrush, work in a circular motion to scrub the stain. Rinse the fabric while scrubbing, and repeat until the stain starts to come out. If the stain is still stubborn, try adding a bit of white vinegar or rubbing alcohol to mix.
If the stain still remains after scrubbing and soaking, repeat steps two and three. You may need to soak and scrub it several times before the stain is completely gone.
Once the stain is gone, rinse the garment in cold water and let it air dry. Once it is dry, launder as usual to make sure all of the cleaning products are rinsed out.
With these five simple steps, you can easily remove adhesive tape stains from your outerwear and keep it looking great.
