If you have ever needed to affix something to a mesh, such as an outdoor screen or decorative fabric, chances are you’ve used adhesive tape. Unfortunately, adhesive tape can leave behind unsightly stains on the fabric. Luckily, there are a few simple steps that you can follow to remove adhesive tape stains from mesh without damaging the fabric.

What You Need

  • A clean white cloth
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • Lukewarm water
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Vinegar

How to Clean

  1. Mix one tablespoon of mild laundry detergent with one quart of lukewarm water in a bowl.
  2. Dampen the clean white cloth in the soapy mixture and gently scrub the stained area of the mesh in a circular motion for a few minutes.
  3. Rinse the area of fabric with clean water and then let it air dry for about 15 minutes.
  4. After the fabric has dried, pour a small amount of vinegar onto a soft-bristled brush and scrub the stained area for approximately one minute.
  5. Rinse the area with clean water once more and allow fabric to air dry completely.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully remove adhesive tape stains from mesh without ruining the fabric. It is important to note that it may take more than one attempt at cleaning to fully remove the stain.

Tips

  • Be sure to test the soapy mixture and vinegar on a small area of the fabric before applying it to the stained area to ensure that it won’t damage the fabric.
  • Never use hot water or harsh chemical cleaners when attempting to remove adhesive tape stains from mesh.
  • If the stain persists, repeat the steps above until the stain is gone.
