Before cleaning your Irish crochet, you should check the label first. If the item should be dry-cleaned, take it to a professional cleaner. For most items, however, the following steps will work.
Materials
- Spray bottle
- Mild dishwashing liquid
- Soft-bristled brush
- Towel or cloth
- White vinegar
Instructions
- Fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients.
- Spray stained area with the detergent solution.
- With a soft-bristled brush, gently scrub the stained area in a circular motion.
- Once the stain is removed, use a towel or cloth to blot up any excess moisture.
- If the stain persists, try spraying it with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water.
- Let vinegar solution sit on the stained area for a few minutes, then scrub area with the brush.
- Once the stain is gone, blot up any remaining moisture.
Additional Tips
- If you don't have a spray bottle, you can use a cloth or sponge to apply the detergent solution.
- It's important to use a very mild detergent, as harsh ones could damage the fabric.
- Always test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first.
