Step 1: Soak

The first step to clean adhesive tape stains from hair ties is to soak them in warm water. Make sure to use a mild detergent in the water and let the ties soak for at least 10 minutes. This will help soften the adhesive and other debris.

Step 2: Scrub

Once the ties have soaked long enough, use a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the surface of the tie. Scrubbing will help break down the adhesive and make it easier to remove. Be sure to use light pressure, as pressing too hard can damage the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse

After scrubbing the adhesive off of the fabric, thoroughly rinse the ties in warm water. This will help ensure that all of the adhesive is removed.

Step 4: Dry

Finally, lay the hair ties out on a towel or cloth and allow them to air-dry. Once they're completely dry, you can start using them again.

Tips

  • If the stain is heavily ingrained, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is no longer visible.
  • Be sure to avoid using hot water when cleaning your ties, as this can cause adhesive to further set into the fabric.
  • After you've cleaned the adhesive off, you can seal the ties in a plastic bag to protect them from getting stained again.
