If you have an adhesive tape stain on a fabric like silk or wool, the first step is to remove as much of tape as possible without damaging the material. Be careful not to use too much force, since pulling on the fabric can cause it to tear. Once the tape is gone, you'll want to mix 1/4 teaspoon of mild dishwashing liquid with one cup of water. Dampen a cloth with this mixture and gently dab the stain. Do not scrub, as this could damage the fabric.
You may also choose to use a stain remover specifically designed for fabrics like silk and wool. Be sure to read instructions on the product before use. Generally speaking, you'll want to apply a small amount of the solution to a cloth and dab it onto the stained area. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes, then rinse it off and let the garment air dry.
If you have an adhesive tape stain on a fabric like polyester or cotton, the process is slightly different. Begin by removing as much of the tape as possible without damaging the material. Once that's done, mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Dip a cloth into this solution and gently dab the stained area. Do not scrub or rub, as this could cause further damage.
If the stain persists, you may want to try using a stain remover designed specifically for these types of fabrics. Again, be sure to read all instructions before use. Generally, you'll want to apply a small amount of solution to a cloth and blot it onto the stained area. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off and letting the garment air dry.
