Removing Gummy Residue

Using a soft cloth, gently dab at stained area with a few drops of lukewarm water. This should soften the residue and make it easier to remove. Blot the water with an absorbent cloth and then use an old toothbrush to rub away the remaining residue.

Using Rubbing Alcohol to Dissolve Larger Stains

For larger adhesive tape stains on flannel, you can use rubbing alcohol to dissolve the sticky residue. Start by dampening a cotton ball or soft cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Then, blot the area gently and slowly rub the stain until it's removed. Rinse the area with lukewarm water if any residue remains.

Preventive Measures

After your garment is clean again, it's important to take measures to prevent future adhesive tape stains. Use Scotch tape or masking tape instead, as these adhere less strongly and usually produce less residue. Additionally, take off the tape carefully by pulling back and off instead of peeling it away. Lastly, avoid leaving your garment in direct sunlight as this can cause the adhesive to stay stuck.
