Sticky tape can be useful for mending items, but it's a different story when you accidentally leave it on your clothes. Removing sticky tape residue from a dress isn't an easy task, and it can sometimes seem like an impossible one. But don't despair — there are several ways to get the adhesive tape stains out without damaging the fabric.

Step 1: Gently Pick off Any Residue

The first step is to gently pick away any visible bits of tape residue with your fingers. Don't use anything sharp or abrasive, as this could snag the fabric or make the stain worse. Just take your time and patiently pick off as much as you can. Also, be sure not to rub at the stained area, as this could spread the adhesive further into the material.

Step 2: Apply a Cleaning Solution

Once you have removed any visible residue, it's time to apply a cleaning solution. Try using rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or a mild detergent. Dilute them with an equal amount of water and then dab mixture onto the stain. This should start to break down adhesive tape residue so it can more easily be removed.

Step 3: Use a Sponge or Cloth

Using a damp sponge or cloth, start to dab and rub at the stained area. Be careful not to rub too hard, as this could damage the fabric. Work in gentle circular motions until you start to see the stain fading away.

Step 4: Rinse the Area

Rinse away the cleaning solution with cold water and then blot dry with a soft cloth or towel. You should start to see the stain fading away.

Step 5: Apply a Stain Remover

If adhesive tape stain is still visible, try applying a commercial stain remover. Follow the instructions on the product and see if the stain fades away.

Step 6: Repeat the Process

If the stain still remains, repeat steps 2 to 5 until you have managed to remove the stubborn adhesive tape stains.

Step 7: Put the Dress in the Washing Machine

Once you have removed the adhesive tape stain, it's time to pop your dress in the washing machine. Use a mild detergent and lukewarm water and then hang it up to dry. With a bit of luck, your dress should now look good as new.
