Step 1: Pre-Treat Stain
Once you have identified the stain, use an aerosol speciality cleaner such as Goo Gone or WD-40 to pre-treat the stained area. Before you apply any product, always test it on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to check for colorfastness.
Step 2: Blot the Stain
Once you have applied the pre-treatment, start blotting the stained area with a clean cloth or paper towel. It is important to always press cloth onto the stain instead of rubbing it, as this prevents stain from spreading further. Continue blotting until the residue has been absorbed.
Step 3: Wash the Garment
Now you can toss the garment in wash. Remember to select the correct cycle and use cool water. If possible, use less detergent than usual and try adding a cup of white vinegar - this helps remove any residual adhesive particles.
Step 4: Apply Another Pre-Treatment
Once the wash cycle has finished, check if the stain is still visible. If so, you may need to repeat the pre-treatment step before washing the garment again.
Step 5: Let Garment Air Dry
Once you have removed the adhesive stains, let the garment air dry in order to avoid setting stain.
