The first step in cleaning adhesive tape stains from charmeuse is to scrape off as much residue as possible with a butter knife or metal spoon. After that, apply a small amount of white vinegar on the affected area and let it sit for one to two minutes. Then, use a soft brush or cloth to rub the vinegar gently into the stain until it starts to loosen up.
After the vinegar has done its job, rinse the fabric with water. If the glue stain still remains, mix some liquid detergent and baking soda together in a bowl and apply it on the stained area. Let the paste sit for five minutes and then rinse the fabric with warm water.
If the stain still persists, you can try using a commercial stain remover. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully for the best results. Before applying any chemicals, remember to test the solution on a small, unseen area of the fabric first.
Once you’ve removed the adhesive tape stains from your charmeuse fabric, it’s important to take preventive measures so that it doesn’t happen again. Use a neutral oil-based lubricant, such as mineral oil, before applying adhesive tape. This will help keep the glue from sticking to the fabric and staining it.
