Calico is a lightweight cotton fabric with a plain weave. Its popularity comes from its durability, making it ideal for curtains and upholstery. But whatever fabric you have, sticky adhesive stains can ruin its look.

Fortunately, there's an easy method of removing these sticky marks from calico fabric. Read on and find out how!

What You Need

  • White vinegar
  • A soft cloth
  • Water

Steps to Remove the Stains

  1. Mix a part of white vinegar and two parts of warm water together.
  2. Soak a soft cloth in the mixture and wring it out until it's damp, not dripping wet.
  3. Place the cloth over the adhesive tape stain and press gently.
  4. Leave the cloth on for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the cloth and use another damp cloth to wipe away any residue.
  6. Use a dry cloth to sponge the area to absorb remaining moisture.

Vinegar has natural anti-bacterial properties that will break down the adhesive residue and make it easier to remove. Be sure to use a soft cloth and gentle pressure to avoid damaging the fabric.

Other Tips

  • You can use baking soda instead of white vinegar. Just mix a tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of warm water and soak cloth in the mixture.
  • If the adhesive tape mark is dry, you can use a sheet of wax paper to help soften it before using your cloth.
  • For tough stains, you can add a few drops of mild detergent to the vinegar or baking soda solution.

With this simple, easy method, you can remove adhesive tape stains from calico fabric quickly and effectively. So, go ahead and try out this method to get your calico looking good as new!
