Tape residue can easily stick to fabrics such as silk, wool, and polyester, leaving a sticky and difficult-to-remove spot. The best thing to do is often to catch it early and act quickly. Here's how.
Immediately after the tape residue has been removed, you should apply a small amount of gentle detergent directly on the stain. This may help to dissolve the adhesive and make it easier to remove. Soak the fabric in a sink or basin with lukewarm water and the detergent for around 30 minutes before washing as normal.
Alternatively, vinegar or lemon juice can also be used to dissolve tape stains. To do this, pour a small amount of either one onto the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, soak item in cold water and wash as normal.
Rubbing alcohol can also be used to treat sticky residues and stains. Put some rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth and dab gently on affected area. Try not to rub area too hard, as this could damage the garment. Rinse with cold water and wash as usual.
This method is not recommended for delicate fabrics, but it can work on tougher materials. To use a hair dryer, simply turn it on the low setting and hold it close to the affected area of the fabric. This will help to loosen adhesive and make it easier to remove. Once the residue has been removed, rinse with cold water and wash as normal.
With these tips and tricks, you can easily get adhesive tape stains out of your favorite business attire. Be sure to act quickly and try out different methods until you find one that works best.
