When dealing with adhesive tape stains, the process starts by softening stubborn tape. To do this, you can use oil or a solvent like turpentine. You can heat the oil or turpentine until just warm, apply it to the stain, then massage the area gently. This will help to break down the adhesive. Once the tape is softened, it can be removed from your broomstick lace.
Now that the old adhesive has been softened, it’s time to get rid of it. Start by wiping away as much of the residue as you can using a damp cloth. Be sure to move in the same direction of the weave pattern. Afterwards, use a mild soap and water solution to remove any remaining residue. As a final step, rinse the area thoroughly with water.
Whatever you do, do not use bleach or any other harsh chemicals to remove the adhesive. Bleach and other chemicals can cause permanent damage to your broomstick lace fabric. If the adhesive isn't coming off, try soaking your lace in a basin of warm water and a mild laundry detergent, and then rinse.
Persistent adhesive tape stains may require professional cleaning. This should always be the last resort. Contact a dry cleaning specialist for advice on how to safely clean your broomstick lace without damaging the fabric.
