Before you begin, you will need a few items: liquid laundry detergent, a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush, a clean cloth, a bucket, and an eyedropper or syringe. You may also want to use a pre-wash stain remover if adhesive stain has been on the fabric for awhile.
In the bucket, mix a solution of equal parts liquid laundry detergent and warm water. If using a pre-wash stain remover, add it to the solution as well. Stir the mixture until it is well blended.
Using the eyedropper or syringe, apply a generous amount of the cleaning solution directly to the stained area. Use your fingers to rub the solution into the fabric, making sure to work it into adhesive stain. Let the solution sit on the fabric for a few minutes.
Using the soft-bristled brush or toothbrush, gently scrub the stained area. Focus on the area of the fabric that is stained with the adhesive and work in small circles. Be gentle but firm, as you don’t want to damage the fabric. Once you have scrubbed the area thoroughly, rinse off fabric with warm water.
Pat the fabric dry with a clean cloth or air dry. Make sure that area is completely dry before moving on to the next step.
Inspect the area of the fabric to make sure the adhesive stain is gone. If it is still present, repeat steps 2 through 5 until the adhesive stain is completely removed.
Cleaning adhesive tape stains from fabric can be tricky, but with the right supplies and a bit of patience, it can be done. If you follow the steps outlined above, you should be able to get those pesky adhesive tape stains off quickly and easily.
