Rubbing alcohol is one of the best ways to get rid of adhesive tape residues. Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton swab and gently wipe away the sticky residue. Do not scrub too hard or you might damage the material of the boots.
If rubbing alcohol does not seem to work, try boiling some water and pouring it directly onto tape residue. Make sure not to overheat material of the boots. Wait a few seconds before carefully scrubbing the area with a soft-bristled brush. Depending on the type of boots you own, you may need to use an oil-based cleaner in combination with warm water.
