Step 1: Remove the Excess Tape

Use a pair of tweezers to carefully remove any remaining pieces of tape from surface of the shoes. If the adhesive has begun to dry and harden, you may need to use a small knife or razor blade to scrape it away.

Step 2: Clean the Shoes

Use a mild detergent and warm water to clean surface of shoes. Be sure to scrub away any sticky residue that may be left behind from the adhesive. You can also spot-clean with an upholstery cleaner or white vinegar solution.

Step 3: Air Dry

After you have finished cleaning the shoes, make sure to allow them to air dry completely. Avoid using a blow dryer or any other type of heat source as this may cause adhesive to remelt and stick to the surface of shoes.

Step 4: Apply Shoe Polish

Once the shoes are completely dry, you can then apply a leather or fabric shoe polish to help disguise any remaining evidence of adhesive tape stains. Be sure to buff the shoes afterwards to give them a nice shine.

Conclusion

It's possible to remove adhesive tape stains from your favorite ballet flats and give them a new lease on life. You might be surprised how good they look with a little bit of TLC!
