Removing adhesive tape stains from backpacks can be tricky and time consuming. The key to success is to choose the right cleaning products and techniques for the material of your backpack.

Cleaning Vinyl or Leather

For vinyl and leather backpacks, a damp cloth soaked in warm white vinegar is all you need. Gently rub the affected area until the stain lifts away. Finally use a soft, dry cloth to buff area.

Cleaning Nylon

For nylon backpacks, a mild all-purpose cleaner should do the trick. Apply a small amount of the cleaner to a damp cloth and gently rub the stain until it is removed. Rinse area with water and dry with a clean, dry cloth.

Cleaning Canvas

For canvas backpacks, simply use warm water and a soft-bristled brush to scrub the stain away. When you’re done, rinse the area with water and allow it to air dry completely.

Additional Tips

  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as these may damage material of your backpack.
  • If stain does not lift after the first attempt, try again or choose another cleaning method.
  • If you don’t have a brush, you can use an old toothbrush instead.
  • If all else fails, take your backpack to a professional dry cleaner or leather specialist.
