Using Ice Cubes to Remove Fresh Stains

If adhesive tape has just been applied to your abaya and has not had time to set, the best thing to do is first freeze it. Take a cleaning cloth and wet it with cold water. Place one or two ice cubes into the cleaning cloth and lay it flat over the stained area. As soon as the ice cubes have melted, remove the cloth and you will see that most of the tape will have been removed. Then wash your abaya as usual.

Removing Dried Adhesive Tape Stains

If the adhesive tape has had time to dry, then the process for removing the stain is a little different. First, scrape off as much of the tape as possible. Then, moisten a cleaning cloth with warm water and gently rub the area, focusing on the spots where the adhesive was applied. Once you have removed most of the residue, use a mild soap and lukewarm water to finish the job. Finally, hang your abaya outside in the sunlight for a few hours before washing it as normal.

Additional Tips

  • Always test the cleaning solution in an inconspicuous spot before using it on the stain to make sure it won’t cause discoloration.
  • Be gentle when rubbing the area, so as not to damage the fabric.
  • If the adhesive is sticking to the fabric, use a mixture of white vinegar and warm water to loosen it.
